James Harris “Jimmy” Huggins, 91, passed from this life to the next on September 10, 2026 at Forrest General Hospital.

   Born on May 14, 1935 to the late Jim and Margaret Huggins, he was a lifelong resident of Waynesboro. He graduated from Waynesboro High School and obtained a degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. He served in the United States Marine Corps as an infantry man, where he reached the rank of Lance Corporal. For a number of years, he worked in his family business, Cole and Huggins grocery store. He later worked for the United States Post Office as a rural mail carrier until he retired.

   He was a member of First Baptist Church in Waynesboro. He loved being outdoors, and some of his favorite pastimes were fishing, canoeing, and tending his backyard garden. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, especially their time in the mountains or at the beach.

   He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan Holland Huggins; daughter Greta Campbell (Tim) of Meridian, and daughter Jennifer Walsingham of Pensacola; four grandchildren, Jim Campbell, Cade Campbell, Carrie Campbell, and Tessa Kahiapo (Damon); two great-grandchildren, Ivy and Dahlia Kahiapo; sisters Micki Hartley (Joe) and Sandra Turnipseed; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Joanne Reynolds.

   Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 with funeral services immediately following on Monday, September 14, at First Baptist Church of Waynesboro with the Dr. Steve Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Waynesboro Cemetery.
