Mr. James E. "Jimmie" Jones, 82, of Buckatunna, MS passed from this life Monday, March 18, 2024 at Providence Hospital in Mobile, AL. He was born in Chicora, MS on Friday, March 13, 1942 to Ed Jones and Willie L. Jones. He was a member of Chicora Baptist Church. He worked for TEI Construction Company. Mr. Jones is preceded in death by his father, Ed Jones; mother, Willie L. Jones; son, Eddie Jones; brother, Frankie Jones; three sisters, Christine Peterson, Bobbie Stanard, Patricia Langley. He is survived by his wife, Louella Jones, Buckatunna, MS; daughter, Beverly Payne (Mark), Huntsville, AL; two brothers, Grant Jones, Sallis, MS, Billy Joe Jones (Barbara), Chicora, MS; two sisters, Etta Lee Gordon, Waynesboro, MS, Cecile Walley, Clara, MS; four grandchildren, Jamie Jones (Lea Ann), Alex Jones (Brooke), Elizabeth Payne, Katelyn Payne; five great grandchildren, Morgan Philyaw (Hunter), Madison Hare (Dalton), Conner Jones, Mylee Jones, Jett Jones, two great-great grandchildren, Paisleigh Philyaw, Rhett Philyaw. Visitation for Mr. Jones will be held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 22, 2024 at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Mitchell Smith officiating. Interment will be in G. W. Pope Cemetery in State Line, MS. Pallbearers are Mike Giles, Rusty Crane, Kyle Davis, Cedric Peterson, Leslie Odom, Hunter Philyaw.
