Mr. Jackie L. "Jack" Thornton, 82, of Yellow Pine, AL passed from this life Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Yellow Pine, AL on Wednesday, July 26, 1944, to the late Jesse H. and Claudie U. Thornton. He was a member of Yellow Pine Baptist Church. He retired as a self-employed truck driver.

   Mr. Thornton is preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Ann Thornton; parents, Jesse H. and Claudie U. Thornton; Daughter-In-Law, Tracey Thornton; great granddaughter, Wrenleigh Thornton; four brothers, Jesse Edward Thornton, Simmie Thornton, Robert Thornton, and Lonnie Mac Thornton. He is survived by his three sons, Timothy Thornton (Maggie) of Yellow Pine, AL, Kenneth Thornton of Clara, MS, and Anthony Thornton (Stephanie) of Chatom, AL; brother, John Allen Thornton (Kathy) of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Tiffany Sullivan, Aladdin Thornton (Barbara), Tyler Thornton (Jeri), Dustin Mills (Rachel), Cole Thornton, Austin Thornton (Catlin), Dominic Thornton (Allie), and Logan Thornton (Paige); 15 great grandchildren.

   Visitation for Mr. Thornton will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Friday, July 31, 2026, at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS 39367. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 1, 2026, with a lie-in-state one hour prior to services at Yellow Pine Baptist Church, 54 Anita Street, Fruitdale, AL 36539 with Rev. Russell Brown and Rev. Buddy Jones officiating. Interment will be in Yellow Pine Cemetery in Washington County, AL.
