Obituary

   Harold Eugene Rose, 91, of Tuscumbia, AL, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, April 29,2024, at his residence. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, of Tuscumbia, AL. He was a graduate of Lynn High School and received his B.S. from Auburn University and completed his master’s at Mississippi State University. He taught at Choctaw County High School, served as Alabama Co-op Extension Agent in Cullman, AL, then moved to Tuscumbia, AL, where he served as assistant coordinator for Alabama Co-op Extension Service for 30 years.

   Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Matthews Rose; daughter, Tammy Rose; parents, Dora Cleo Byram Rose and Preston Eugene Rose “Jack”; brother, Terry Rose. He is survived by his children: two sons, Timothy Rose of Tuscumbia, AL and Mark Rose (Wendy) of Muscle Shoals, AL; daughter, Machelle Rose Ballard of Athens, AL; grandchildren, Matthew Rose (Anna Beth), Nicole Watson, Gabriel Rose (Allison), Loderic Rose, Melissa Norton (Drew), Ryan Ballard (Brandi), Heather Reid (Heath), Abby Elliot (Bradley); great grandchildren: Evie Rose, Harvey Rose, Lilla Norton, Easton Norton, Boone Norton, Tristan Rose, Isabella Rose, Sophia Crowe; Harper Belle Rose, Maverick Rose, Jackson Elliott, Riley Elliott, Kennedy Reid, and Adaline Reid.

   Harold was a wonderful father, child, and brother. Everyone who knew him was touched by his generosity and ability to make others feel valued. He was PawPaw to eight grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren, who adored him. He taught them so much by his Godly example every day. He was generous, kind, and loving to everyone who was part of his life. His memory will live in all our hearts, and he will never cease to be cherished by us all.

   The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Alabama Hospice of the Shoals, Brother’s Keeper and all the special ladies who helped us. Thank you for your love and compassion. We thank Colbert Memorial Chapel for the preparation locally and Freeman Funeral Home, of Waynesboro, MS for helping with all the arrangements. Our gratitude to Aquilla Community Church for their help and kindness.

   Visitation will be from 12 to 2pm on Sunday, May 3, 2024, in the parlor of Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS. A celebration of life will follow in the chapel at 2pm. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in the Aquilla Community in Choctaw County, AL. Officiating will be his grandson, Matthew Rose, minister at Calvary Fellowship Church of Florence, AL. In lieu of flowers, expressions of Sympathy May be sent “In Memory of Harold Rose" to Aquilla Community Church, c/o Lynn Smith, 3065 County Road 3, Millry, AL 36558.Pallbearers are Randy Smith, Bradley Elliott, Josh Matthews, Tim Balentine, David Matthews, and Patrick Farris.
