Mr. G H "Rick" Rickard, Jr., 87, of Bay Springs, MS passed from this life Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg, MS. He was born in Bay Springs, MS on Thursday, October 31, 1935 to the late G H Rickard, Sr. and Alvis Rickard. Mr. Rick served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He is a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Mr. Rick is also known as "Papa the Crawfish Boiler" in Bay Springs. He loved all sports, hunting, and fishing. He retired as a driller in the Oil Field. Mr. Rick is preceded in death by his two wives, Marlene Rickard, Else Rickard; parents, G H Rickard, Sr. and Alvis Rickard; son, Mike Rickard; daughter, Terri "Tess" Gable; three brothers, Hershell Rickard, Johnny Rickard, Joe Rickard; two sisters, Louise Rickard, Patsy Rickard. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Mary Frances "Kitty" Rickard of Bay Springs, MS; son, Danny Rickard; daughter, Chris Anderson both of Indianapolis, IN; step son, Alvey P. Stephens of Bay Springs, MS; step daughter, Shelia Watson (Daniel) of Batesville, MS; sister, Peggy Milstead of Sandersville, MS; five grandchildren, Jeremy Anderson, Jennifer Anderson, Daniel Rickard, Jesse Rickard (Tina), and Mesha Rickard; a host great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. A Visitation for Mr. Rickard will be held from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM, at Antioch Baptist Church in Bay Springs, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 13, 2023 with a lie-in-state from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Keith Ulmer officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Wayne County, MS.
