Mr. Ernest Hollinghead, Jr., 69, of Buckatunna, MS passed from this life Friday, March 11, 2022 at Wayne General Hospital in Waynesboro, MS. He was born in Laurel, MS on Sunday, April 6, 1952 to Ernest L. Hollinghead, Sr. and Viola Dearmon Hollinghead. He was a member of Red Creek Church of God. He worked most of his life in the Oil Field and was retired as a Roughneck. Mr. Ernest is preceded in death by his wife, Francis B. Hollinghead; father, Ernest L. Hollinghead, Sr.; mother, Viola Dearmon Hollinghead; daughter, Haley M. Hollinghead; three brothers, Harold Hollinghead, James Hollinghead, Fred Hollinghead; three sisters, Pearl Dearmon, Sue West, Betty Smith. He is survived by his adopted daughter, Kristy Pitts; brother, Daniel Hollinghead, Leakesville, MS; three sisters, Velma Hollinghead, Chatom, AL, Dollie Blount, Waynesboro, MS, Diane Smith (Billy), Millry, AL; one granddaughter; a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mr. Ernest will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 14, 2022 with a lie-in-state from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Red Creek Church of God in Wayne County, MS with Rev. Ray Odom and Rev. Steve Watts officiating. Interment will be in Red Creek Cemetery in Wayne County, MS.
