Mr. Eric Jerome Hughes, 67, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Friday, June 13, 2025 at Providence Hospital in Mobile, AL. He was born in Ozark, AL on Wednesday, December 11, 1957 to William Hughes and Ruby Wells. He was a member of Waynesboro Church of Christ. Eric loved woodworking and gardening. He was formerly employed by the Wayne County Board of Supervisors at the Department of Human Services. Mr. Hughes is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda A. Heathcock Hughes; father, William Hughes; brother, Johnny Hughes; sister, Belinda Martin. He is survived by his mother, Ruby Wells, Albany, GA; two brothers, Kenneth Hughes, Ocala, FL, Tommy Wells, Albany, GA; two sisters-in-law, Lenette Heathcock, Suzette Fulgham (Lance), all of Laurel, MS; niece, Alyssa Fulgham; two nephews, Alex Fulgham, Jeffrey Martin; great nephew, Jerry Lee Martin; lifelong family friend, Rose Levoy, Laurel, MS. Visitation for Mr. Hughes will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, June 20, 2025 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Seth Sullivan and Steve Harris officiating. Interment will be in Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS.
