Donald Edward Porter, age 76, met his Savior on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Born on August 2, 1948, with an identical twin brother, Ronald, in Waynesboro, Mississippi, Donald was a carpenter by trade and a self-professed philosopher by night. Alongside his brother, Donald designed and built homes, churches, and businesses from his own home all the way to Ontario, Canada. He loved working with his hands, hunting, fishing, watching sports, and telling jokes.
Donald "Rifleman" Porter is preceded in death by his mother, Verna O'Gwynn Porter, father, Edwin Graves Porter, sister Doris Elaine Porter, and his beloved soul dog, Shooter.
He is survived by his devoted wife and caregiver, Kathy, whom he married on her 18th birthday in 1972, daughters Angela, of Plant City, Florida, and Paula (fiance Chad Stone), of Houma, Louisiana, two cherished grandchildren, Natalie Doucette (fiance Quincy Hart) and Cole Pellegrin, brother, Ronald (Darlene) Porter, of Waynesboro, Mississippi, sister, Linda (Eddie) Gibson, of Collins, Mississippi, nephews James (Wendy) Gibson and family of Collins, Mississippi, and Michael (LeAnn) Gibson and family of Starkville, Mississippi, as well as a host of treasured relatives on both sides of our substantial family tree.
Services for Donald Porter will be held at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro MS, 1305 Skyland Drive, on Monday, June 16, 2025. Ministers Dr. Steve Smith and Rev. Kevin Hollingshead will preside over the services. Pallbearers are Chad Stone, Cole Pellegrin, James Gibson, Michael Gibson, Glenn Skipper, and Walt Montgomery. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until 1:00pm. Funeral will be at 1:00pm. Internment will be at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
