Mrs. Claudia "Jean" Cooley, 88, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Sunday, December 10, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Waynesboro, MS on Wednesday, September 4, 1935, to the late J. C. and Lucille Skipper.
Ms. Jean met the love of her life George Ira Cooley, Sr. and was united in marriage on August 4, 1954, at First Baptist Church of Waynesboro and started their family. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She retired as a secretary at Palmer Paper Company in Dallas, TX and later came home to devote her life to her family as a homemaker.
Mrs. Cooley is preceded in death by her husband, George Ira Cooley, Sr.; parents, J. C. and Lucille Skipper; son, George I. Cooley, Jr.; brother, Malcolm Skipper; sister, Mona Breese. She is survived by her son, Michael Cooley (Patti) of Waynesboro, MS; Daughter-In-Law, Becky Cooley of Holly Springs, NC; sister, Shirley Arnold of Citronelle, AL; three grandchildren, Eric Cooley (Jen) of Peachtree City, GA, Jessye Smith (Matt) of Holly Springs, NC, Seth Cooley of Waynesboro, MS; five great grandchildren, Matthew, Lauren, Ashley, Meghan, and Maddison.
Visitation for Mrs. Cooley will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at White House Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS. Interment will be in White House Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS.
