Mrs. Carol Platt Busby, 71, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Asbury Hospice Facility in Hattiesburg, MS. She was born in Laurel, MS on Tuesday, November 13, 1951, to Lamar and Maxine Platt. Carol graduated from Waynesboro Central High School in 1969, and later became a member of the first graduating class of dental hygienists from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Carol and Arthur were married on June 10, 1972. Carol retired as a Dental Hygienist, as well as co-owner of Busby's Garden Center & Landscaping in Waynesboro. She was a member of First United Methodist Church for over 40 years.

Mrs. Busby is preceded in death by her parents, Lamar and Maxine Platt, brother, Jerry Platt; and mother-in-law, Marion Busby Stevens.

She is survived by her loving husband of over 50 years, Arthur George Busby, III; two daughters, Nicole Marasca of Mobile, AL and Blair Dolan (John) of Ellisville, MS; two granddaughters, Emma Marasca of Mobile, AL and Kinsley Dolan of Ellisville, MS; sister-in-law; Marion Ann Busby Poirier of Hattiesburg, MS; niece Michelle Poirier Varner (Jody) of Jackson, MS; nephew Robert Poirier of Atlanta, GA; one great niece and three great nephews.

Visitation for Mrs. Busby will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 7, 2023 at Freeman Funeral Home with Dr. Steven Bruns officiating. Interment will be in Waynesboro Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS.

Pallbearers are Frank Johnston, Clayton Rainwater, Ben Graves, Dan Lomax, Timothy Anderson, and John Dolan. Honorary Pallbearers are Doug and Wilda Everitt. Also serving as Honorary Pallbearers are The Great Eight Social Group including Hope Johnston, Julia Waller, Sherry Clark, Barbara Graves, Mary Jo Britton, Louise Rainwater and Bibba Hertz.
