With hearts full of love and gratitude, we announce the passing of Brother Aubrey Cook, 96, of Waynesboro, MS, who entered into eternal rest on August 14, 2026, at his residence. Born on June 3, 1930, in Hiwannee, Mississippi, he was a beloved man whose life brought blessing to many. He was a devoted and cherished family man and a humble follower of Christ. We mourn this earthly goodbye and hold fast to our hope in Jesus Christ.

   During his lifetime, Brother Aubrey Cook lived a life marked by kindness and heartfelt care for others. Brother Cook served in the Army and faithfully pastored several churches for over 50 years. After retiring from pastoring, Brother Aubrey Cook ministered throughout several local nursing homes as well as prison ministry until his health began to fail.

   Brother Aubrey Cook loved the Lord and sought to follow Christ with a sincere and humble heart. His faith was not only professed but lived through service and prayer in God’s promises, even in difficult seasons. As Scripture reminds us, ‘Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them.’ (Revelation 14:13).

   We give thanks that Brother Aubrey Cook is now in the presence of the Savior he loved. As Scripture reminds us, “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.” (1 Thessalonians 4:14). In this grief, we hold to the comfort of the Gospel: ‘The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.’ (Psalm 34:18)

   We remember Brother Aubrey Cook for a life of love, a witness of faith, and an earthly legacy that points us to Christ’s goodness and mercy.

   Brother Aubrey Cook was preceded in death by his father, William Clinton Cook; mother, Lola Cook; 4 brothers, Joey Cook, Dale Vernon “D. V.” Cook, Chester Ray Cook, William Clinton “W. C.” Cook; sister, Marcia Waller; and daughter, Sheron Cook Cochran. He is lovingly remembered by his loving and devoted wife of 73 years, Faye Cook of Waynesboro; son-in-law, Ray Cochran of Waynesboro; son, C.A. Cook (Sherry) of Waynesboro; daughters, Charlotte Anderson (Huey) of Stateline and Karen Deese of Fruitdale, Alabama; 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He is also remembered with affection by extended family, dear friends, and all who were touched by his life.

   Visitation for Bro. Cook will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Monday, August 17, 2026, at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, August 17, 2026, at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Jason Howard Dr. Terry Williams officiating. Interment will be in White House Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS.

   May God comfort and strengthen each heart today. Though we grieve, we do not grieve without hope. For in Christ, death is not the end, and we look forward to the promised reunion in His presence and peace. “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” (Romans 15:13)

   The family extends heartfelt thanks to the churches and organizations whose love and generosity have meant so much during this time. Their compassion will always be remembered with deep gratitude.
