Mrs. Brenda Heathcock Hughes, 63, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Sunday, April 30, 2023 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was born in Waynesboro on Monday, October 26, 1959 to Nolan Heathcock and Wilma Heathcock. She was a member of Waynesboro Church of Christ. She retired as a School Teacher. In addition to being a teacher she hosted foreign exchange students from all over the world. She was a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She was also a Photojournalist for the Wayne County News, Sea Coast Echo in Bay St. Louis, and Gulf Coast Media. Mrs. Brenda is preceded in death by her father, Nolan Heathcock, and mother, Wilma Heathcock. She is survived by her husband, Eric Hughes, Waynesboro, MS; two sisters, Lenette Heathcock, Laurel, MS, Suzette Heathcock Fulgham (Lance), all of Laurel, MS; niece, Alyssa Fulgham; nephew, Alex Fulgham; foster sister, Rose Levoy, all of Laurel, MS. Visitation for Mrs. Brenda will be held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Friday, May 5, 2023 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Freeman Funeral Home with Seth Sullivan and Steve Harris officiating. Interment will be in Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS.
