Mrs. Bernice Byrd, 74, of Richton, MS passed from this life Saturday, July 22, 2023 at her residence. She was born in Wayne County on Sunday, September 19, 1948 to Leslie Brewer and Nellie Brewer. She was a member of West Salem Baptist Church. She retired as a Registered Nurse. Mrs. Byrd is preceded in death by her husband, Don Byrd; father, Leslie Brewer; mother, Nellie Brewer; granddaughter, Morgan Lindsey Nicholson. She is survived by her two daughters, Wanda Byrd Nicholson, Richton, MS, Donna Dehaan (Scott), Vancleave, MS; son, Don Byrd, Jr. (Lori), Richton, MS; someone she loved as her own, Mark Thornton (Michelle), Richton, MS; brother, Elgin Brewer, Richton, MS; three sisters, Joyce Walley, Iola McLain, Jannis Smith; 7 grandchildren, Shelby Brewer, Rick Dehaan, Alex Boss, Michael Dehaan, Blake Nicholson, Lindsey Thompson, Madi Dickson; 11 great grandchildren. Visitation for Mrs. Byrd will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at West Salem Baptist Church, Greene County, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at West Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Morris and Rev. Perry Robbins officiating. Interment will be in Henderson Cemetery in Greene County, MS. Pallbearers are Ross Thompson, Lance Brewer, Cory Boss, Richard Dixon, Brian Brewer, Mike McLain.
