Ms. Barbara Leigh Chapman Doherty, 82, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Monday, June 9, 2025, at Alden Point Assisted Living in Hattiesburg, MS. She was born in Waynesboro, MS on Monday, January 11, 1943, to the late Paul Henry Chapman, Sr. and Pauline Hedy Windham Chapman. She retired as an Elementary Principal for the Mobile County Public School System. Ms. Doherty is preceded in death by her parents, Paul Henry Chapman, Sr. and Pauline Hedy Windham Chapman; daughter, Monica Lane Morales; brother, Paul Henry Chapman, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Wynona Chapman Wiley (Cecil) of Hattiesburg, MS; three nephews, Trae Norsworthy (Amy) of Baton Rouge, LA, Brandon Ashley Norsworthy (Jennifer) of Brandon, MS, and Christopher Paul Chapman of Bradenton, FL; niece, Kimberly Edwards (Ben) of Brandon, MS. Visitation for Ms. Doherty will be held from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Hebron United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, MS. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Hebron United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Trae Norsworthy and Elder Cecil Wiley officiating. Interment will be in Hebron Cemetery in Wayne County, MS.
