Mrs. Weda S. Hudson, 83, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Monday, May 7, 2018. She was born in Smithville, MS on Monday, May 14, 1934 to Coy Cleveland Suggs and Minnie Lee Suggs. After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi, she moved to Waynesboro, and subsequently served as the Wayne County Home Economist. She was also a substitute school teacher in the Waynesboro Public School System for many years. She was a member of Waynesboro Presbyterian Church. Weda was a recipient of the Waynesboro Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Citizenship Award. She was a member of the Fine Arts Club for more than 50 years. She was a Charter Member of the Junior Auxiliary. Weda was a longtime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) where she served on both State and Local Boards. She received the 2017 Mississippi State Society DAR Outstanding Daughter Award. Weda is preceded in death by her father, Coy Cleveland Suggs and mother, Minnie Lee Suggs; and brother, J. W. Suggs. She is survived by her husband, Spencer D. Hudson, Waynesboro, MS; sons, Spencer D. Hudson, Jr. (Robin), Cleveland Alexander Hudson, both of Hattiesburg, MS; brother, Edward C. Suggs, Smithville, MS; sister, Lane Suggs-Booker (Donald), Gulf Breeze, FL; 3 grandchildren, Winston Hudson, Reid Hudson, Luke Hudson, all of Hattiesburg, MS. A visitation for Weda will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Stanton officiating. Interment will be in Serenity Gardens Cemetery.
