Roy D. McCollough

Mr. Roy D. McCollough, 74, of Matherville, MS passed from this life Friday, June 21, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Mobile, AL on Friday, February 23, 1945 to Emmit McCollough and Madeleine McCollough. He was a devoted member and elder of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Quitman, MS. Anyone who knew him can attest he was a good hardworking Christian man and will be missed by all who have had the pleasure of knowing him. He has been a big Christian influence in many people’s lives by living a good and honest example before them. While growing up his boys can remember their father for being a loving, funny, and stern man at times. They can also remember growing up as children their father making sure all of their chores was taken care of before going swimming at the creek or just playing around. He worked as a self-employed row crop farmer along beside his wife and their five sons. He was a farmer that was known to fix a 25 year old combine as effortlessly as he could a fourteen year old boy who'd rather swim than cut grass. Mr. McCollough is preceded in death by his parents, Emmit and Madeleine McCollough. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Elsie McCollough, Matherville, MS; 5 sons, Roy Lynn McCollough (Chrisie), Waynesboro, MS, Larry D. McCollough (Amy), Cleveland, TN, Lee E. McCollough (Dixie), Waynesboro, MS, Luke McCollough (Christina), Millry, AL, Lonnie McCollough (Rachel), Waynesboro, MS; 2 brothers, John Emmit McCollough, Grand Bay, AL, Marion McCollough, Wing, AL; 17 grandchildren, Matthew Newsome, Sarah McCollough, Samantha McCollough, Ryan McCollough, Rachael McCollough, Risa McCollough, Haley Yarber, Hannah Yarber, Levi Williams, LaAnna McCollough, Madison McCollough, Mindi Lee McCollough, Blaze Beasley, Kolbren Bently McCollough, Garret McCollough, Hagen McCollough, Mikala Ard; great grandchild, Kyleigh Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, other relative, and many friends. Visitation for Mr. McCollough will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, June 24, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS 39367. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Pastor Todd Parker officiating. Interment will be in Geneva-Horne Cemetery in Matherville, MS.
