Robert S. "Scotty" Mills

Mr. Robert S. "Scotty" Mills, 76, of Chicora, MS passed from this life Saturday, December 22, 2018 at his residence in Richton, MS. He was born in Mobile, AL on Sunday, June 14, 1942 to Foster Mills and Myrtle Dyess Mills. Mr. Mills graduated from Clara School and later from the Dallas Mortuary School of Embalming. He worked as a Tax Assessor and Collector for over twelve years. He retired from the State of Mississippi Highway Department as a Land Titleman. He was a member of Chicora First Baptist Church. Mr. Mills is preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle Mills; father, Foster Mills; daughter, Margie West; brother, Rev. Malcolm Mills; great granddaughter, Briley Williams. He is survived by his wife, Jean Mills, Richton, MS; son, John "J. R." Mills, Buckatunna, MS; daughter, Relda Freeman (Sam), Waynesboro, MS; 3 step daughters, Brenda Phillips, Glenda Nicholson, Sandy Waterman all of Richton, MS; brother, Lonnie Ray Mills (Ann), Buckatunna, MS; sister, Vivian Cohen (Mike), Englewood, FL; 7 grandchildren, Crystal Cockrell, J. T. Edison, Hannah Freeman, Samuel Freeman, Jalyn Mills, Duncan Mills, Mara Stuart; a host of great grandchildren. Pallbearers are: Malcolm Mills, J. T. Edison, Rusty Crane, Arthur Sturdivant, Josh Beasley, Tommy Beasley, and Duncan Mills. Visitation for Mr. Mills will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Mitchell Smith and Rev. David Roberson officiating. Interment will be in Mills Cemetery in Wayne County, MS.
