Mrs. Odeen Walker, 89, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Friday, December 20, 2019 at Brookwood Villa. She was born in Yantis, TX on Wednesday, July 30, 1930 to Henry Teddy Canaday and Etta Cleo Canaday. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She retired from the family-owned business, Walker's Grocery Store. She raised four daughters of her own and helped raise many other children who lived in her neighborhood. Mrs. Walker kept an immaculately clean home and supported her husband in every journey of their lives together. She loved to travel with her daughters to the many softball practices, games, piano practices, recitals, and Girl Scout meetings. Her daughters remember her as the Mom who loved to drink sweet tea; she always wanted to pack everyone's bags when they would travel to grandma’s house. Mrs. Walker is preceded in death by her husband, Edward O'Neil Walker; father, Henry Teddy Canaday; mother, Etta Cleo Canaday; 5 brothers, Luther Curtis Canaday, Andrew Jackson Canaday, David Leon Canaday, Billy Dee Canaday, James Wayne Canaday; 4 sisters, Bessie Bell Canaday Halcomb, Audrey Lue Canaday Wallace, Margie Dell Canday French, Mae Jelline Canaday Steed. She is survived by her 4 daughters, Merdith Ann Montgomery (Raymond), Lewisville, TX, Venita Carol Walker Flowers (Ted), Flower Mound, TX, Mary Etta Chancey (Eddie), Waynesboro, MS, Rebecca Alice Walker (Pat), Waynesboro, MS; 7 grandchildren, Darren Fisk, Megan Humphrey, Nathan Fisk, Chris Flowers, Maggie Chancey Kittrell, Walker G. Chancey, Cory Flowers; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mrs. Walker will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, Monday, December 23, 2019 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 2 Jones Walker Loop Road, Waynesboro, MS. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 AM Monday, December 23, 2019 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Charlie Laird officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
