Malcolm Howse Obituary

Mr. Malcolm Paul Howse, 92, of Buckatunna, MS passed from this life Thursday, May 24, 2018 at his residence in Buckatunna, MS. He was born in Buckatunna, MS on Friday, November 27, 1925 to J. E. Howse and Velma Grace Gorday Howse. Mr. Howse worked as a self-employed farmer. He loved trapping and processing the fur from his catches. He was a member of Farm Bureau and served 29 years as the local president and 6 terms on the state board. He was an ASCS committee member, Self Help Farming Group, and the Fair Committee. He was a lifelong member of Buckatunna United Methodist Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Board Member, Sunday School Superintendent, and was on the Building Committee. He was a member of the Chicora Lodge #538 for 60 years and had made it past Master. Mr. Howse is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Gladys McMillan Howse; mother, Velma Grace Gorday Howse; father, J. E. Howse; step mother, Pansy Gavin Howse; 2 brothers, James Walter Howse, Daniel Henry Howse; infant brother; 2 sisters, Eulalie Howse Jones, Edwina Howse; 2 grandsons, Eric Howse, Scott Howse. He is survived by 2 sons, Michael Timothy Howse (Ellen), Meridian, MS, Malcolm Richard Howse (Cindy), Buckatunna, MS; 5 sisters Laura Mae Mashburn, Mary Alice Mashburn, Betty Lou Edmond, Lola Grace Campbell, all of Buckatunna, MS, Sarah McCaffrey, Gulfport, MS; adopted brother, James Ellis Howse, Ohio; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other family members, and friends. Visitation for Mr. Howse will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Friday, May 25, 2018 in the Parlor of Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS 39367. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 26, 2018 with a two hour lie-in-state from 9:00 AM to 11:00AM at Buckatunna United Methodist Church in Buckatunna, MS with Rev. Jesse Long officiating. Interment will be in Winchester Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Buckatunna United Methodist Church.
