Mr. Joe L. Palmer, 72, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Sunday, January 14, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Jones County on Thursday, February 8, 1945. He was a member of Harvest Temple Church of God. He served in the U. S. Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam Era. Joe served for 30 years on the Waynesboro Fire Department and retired as Assistant-Chief. He also worked part-time for the Waynesboro Police Department. He is preceded in death by his father, Ollie Palmer; mother, Lois Applin Grayson; step-father, Johnny Grayson. He is survived his wife, Lynda Palmer, Waynesboro, MS; son, Anthony Palmer (Laura Lea), Houston, TX; 2 daughters, Deana Williams (John), Stephanie McIlwain (Shane), Waynesboro, MS; sister, Linda Hardin (James), Eatonton, GA; 5 grandchildren, Baley McCary (Brett), Kaley Walters (Seth), Landon Williams, Grayson Palmer, Emerson Palmer; 3 nephews, Richie Hardin, Marcus Hardin, John Hardin. Visitation for Joe will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Harvest Temple Church of God, 111 Turner Street, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Harvest Temple Church of God with Rev. Edward Bean officiating. Interment will be in Old Yellow Creek Cemetery.
