H. G. McIlwain, Jr.

Mr. H. G. McIlwain, Jr., 84, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Wayne General Hospital. He was born in Waynesboro on Wednesday, August 22, 1934 to Harry Gilbert McIlwain, Sr. and Sarah Effie (McRae) McIlwain. He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He served in the U. S. Army and retired from the Oil Field as Production Operator with Murphy Oil Company. Mr. H. G. is preceded in death by his wife, Kameko "Jeannie" McIlwain; father, Harry Gilbert McIlwain, Sr. and mother, Sarah Effie McIlwain; sons, Bill McIlwain, and Infant Son McIlwain. He is survived by son, Gil McIlwain (Marsha), Weatherford, TX; daughter-in-law, Karen McIlwain, Tatum, TX; sister, Linda Daugherty (Gerald), Silas, AL; 6 grandchildren, KyLeigh McIlwain Odom, Waynesboro, MS, Kasha Hughes (David), Laurel, MS, Kristen Ladner (Stephen), Knoxville, TN, Erika Smith (Gregory), Tatum, TX, Kevin McIlwain (Rebekah), Tulsa, OK, Devin McIlwain, Keller, TX; 8 Great-Grandchildren; nephew, Clay Daugherty, niece, Gina Daugherty Pitts, both of Waynesboro, MS. Visitation for Mr. H. G. will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, March 1, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Charlie Laird officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Methodist Cemetery.
