Ted Barber Yates

   Mr. Ted Barber Yates, 76, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Smith County, MS on Wednesday, February 4, 1948, to the late Henry and Lillie Mae Yates. He retired as a CO2 specialist and welder at Genesis Crude Oil.

   Mr. Yates is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lillie Mae Yates; four brothers, Howell Yates, Charles Yates, James Yates, Jerrel Yates; nephew, Jeff Yates. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley Ann Yates; son, Brian Yates; daughter, Angelia Adams (Lonnie), all of Waynesboro, MS; two brothers, Marshall P. Yates of Taylorsville, MS, Dan Yates (Susan) of Weatherford, TX; three grandchildren, Star Russell (Shon), Sharr Street (Stevie), Konner Adams; six great grandchildren, Jayla Woods, Jacoby Woods, Mae-Leigh Beal, Mandee Green, Marlee Stevens, Storeigh Russell; a host of nieces and nephews.

   Visitation for Mr. Yates will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Friday, March 8, 2024, at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. John Brown, Rev. Ricky Williams, and Willis Smith officiating. Interment will be in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Taylorsville, MS. Pallbearers are Marty Yates, Winston Yates, Steve Yates, Woody Yates, Konner Adams, and Stevie Street. Honorary pallbearers are Shon Russell, Troy Graves, Chris West, Ricky Yates, and Randy Yates.
