Ms. Bertha "Lucy" McIlwain, 62, a resident of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Wayne General Hospital in Waynesboro surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Sunday, September 19, 1954 in Waynesboro to Dorothy Merle Clark McIlwain and Norman Bruce McIlwain. She was a member of Central Independent Baptist Church. Ms. McIlwain is preceded in death by her father, Bruce McIlwain; 2 sisters, Edna Pearl McIlwain, Louise Stevens. She is survived by her loving mother, Dorothy McIlwain of Waynesboro; brother, James H. McIlwain (Brenda) of Waynesboro; brother-in-law, Smokey Stevens of Waynesboro; 2 nieces, Blaine Bunch (Jeff), Gentry Joiner (Clarke) both of Waynesboro; 2 great nephews, Ramey Bunch, Ford Joiner; 2 great nieces, Kodi Bunch, Swayze Joiner. Visitation for Ms. McIlwain will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 12, 2017 in the Parlor of Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro. Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 PM Tuesday, September 12, 2017 from the Hebron Cemetery in Wayne County with Rev. Carlton McNeer officiating. Interment will be in Hebron Cemetery in Wayne County.

Dear Dot and family, I am so sorry to hear about Lucy's passing. She was such a sweet lady and I always enjoyed visiting with ya'll at our family get togethers. May God be with you all in these hard days ahead. He will sustain you and give you strength. I love you all and I'm praying for you and thinking of you. Terry
