Richard Henry Thames

Mr. Richard Henry Thames, 90, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Southern Living  in Waynesboro. He was born in Buckatunna, MS on Monday, June 6, 1927 to Archie Weaver Thames and Lillie Guy Thames. He served in the U. S. Army and was a Veteran of World War II. He retired from Freeman Funeral Home after serving for many years as a Licensed Funeral Director. Mr. Richard is preceded in death by his father, Archie Weaver Thames and mother, Lillie Guy Thames; 2 brothers, Adron Thames, Eugene Thames; grandchild, Lilliana Lopez. He is survived by his daughter, Yvonne Lopez (Mauro), Waynesboro, MS; sister, Fannie Mae Jackson (Bert), Pontotoc, MS; grandchild, Julietta Lopez, Waynesboro, MS; several Nieces and Nephews. Visitation for Mr. Thames will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. W. E. Rankin officiating. Interment will be in New Bethel Cemetery in Millry, AL. The family wishes to express "Special Thanks" to the Staff of Southern Living for their kindness and care to Mr. Richard. He considered them his "special family" during his residency.
