Mr. Jack A. Williams, 82, of Shubuta, MS (Wayne County) passed from this life Thursday, January 4, 2018 at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel. He was born in Wayne County on Sunday, March 31, 1935 to Capell and Susan Williams. He was a longtime member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He served 20 years in the U. S. Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam Era. After receiving his public education, Mr. Williams entered the U. S. Army in 1954. During his enlistment he played football until the age of 38. In his final game, he played with the Armed Forces Southern Europe All-Star football team in the Naples, Italy Shrine Bowl. He coached the All-Star Babe Ruth baseball team in the European Championships in 1973. He coached other Pop Warner football and Babe Ruth baseball teams during his years in the Army. During the course of his service, he and his wife, Mrs. Ursula L. Williams traveled the world. Mr. Williams retired from the U. S. Army in 1975, returning to Wayne County accompanied by his beloved bride, Mrs. Ursula. At that point, he entered the security system industry. In 1981 he was instrumental in founding the Mississippi Alarm Association and served as the 2nd President of the Association. Mr. Williams was brought up as a Mason in the Ben Hill Lodge #674 in Atlanta, GA. He was a member of both the H. L. Stansel Lodge #603 and the York Rite Lodge #414 of Laurel. He was a Past Potentate of the Hamasa Temple Shrine in Meridian and a lifetime Board Member of the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Shreveport, LA. Mr. Williams is preceded in death by his father, Capell Williams and mother, Susan Williams; 4 brothers, Paul Williams, Calvin Williams, Clarence "Bill" Williams, W. C. "Bill" Williams; 2 sisters, Carrie Brownlee, Flossie Jordan. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ursula L. Williams, Shubuta, MS; 2 sons, Don Williams (Carol), Chicora, MS, David Williams (Jo Anne), Hattiesburg, MS; daughter, Michelle Kittrell (Mark), State Line, MS; 11 grandchildren, Yuri Wainwright, Tori Deel, Jack Williams, John Williams, Kristina Greene (Josh), Matthew Williams, Sophia Williams, Serena Buckley (Kevin), Victoria Williams, Markus Kittrell, Olivia Kittrell; 6 great grandchildren, Dakota Deel, Zoey Deel, Ainsley Deel, Kyleigh Greene, Cody Greene, Katelyn Greene; and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Other Relatives & Friends. A Rosary Service for Mr. Williams will be held at 3:45 PM, Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive. The public visitation will follow from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 8, 2018 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 401 Mississippi Drive, Waynesboro, MS with Monsignor Michael Thornton officiating. Interment will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery. In liew of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hamasa Temple Shrine Transportation for Children Fund, P. O.
