Mrs. Esther B. Holifield, 100, a resident of Laurel, MS (Wayne County) passed from this life on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Wayne County on Monday, August 27, 1917 to Hardy and Vivian Henderson. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was retired as a teacher for Wayne and Jones County Public School Systems. Mrs. Holifield is preceded in death by 3 husbands, Colon Busby, Charles "Dad" Boutwell, Algia Holifield; father, Hardy Henderson; mother, Vivian Henderson; son, Shafter Busby; 3 brothers, Leonard Henderson, Denvil Henderson, Hardy Lee Henderson. She is survived by her step son-in-law, Lavelle Walters of Laurel; sister, Mildred Lofton of Waynesboro; 3 nieces, Carolyn Ann Skinner of California, Debbie Thornton (Bruce) of Biloxi, Scottie Busby (James) of Clara; nephew, Tommy Henderson (Joan) of Leakesville; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Visitation for Mrs. Holifield will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Friday, January 12, 2018 in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Wayne County. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 12, 2018 from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Wayne County with Rev. Dave Moran officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Wayne County.
