You can be truly comfortable calling upon the Freeman Funeral Home. We are not a large, impersonal corporate staff. Rather, you’ll be connecting with members of a loving family – who recognize the deep pain of loss through professional training tempered by personal experience. We will listen closely to your stories, provide information when we see the need, and help you to arrive at decisions you can be pleased with for years to come.

Reaching back to the time when businesses were commonly family-owned and operated, the staff members of Freeman Funeral Home bring the time-honored traditions of personal service, attention to detail and professionalism to our exceptional, modern facility.

We respect all cultural and religious traditions, and will work closely with your family to meet your expectations and desires.

Freeman Funeral Home was founded in 1928 in Waynesboro, Mississippi by the original owner W. W. Freeman.

Many traditions of Dignified Funeral Services were established and carried on to this day. Harry B. Freeman, son of W. W. Freeman, became licensed in Alabama and Mississippi in 1938 and worked together with his father excluding the years Harry served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. On January 5, 1947, Harry Freeman married Mayre Bell and in July of 1947 they moved to Leakesville, Mississippi and opened Freeman Funeral Home in Leakesville.

Freeman Funeral Home expanded again in 1967 with purchase of Higgins Mortuary in Citronelle, Alabama.

Serving the people of Southeast Mississippi and Southwest Alabama. W.W. and Harry Freeman expanded the business and it's reputation for Dignified Service until W.W. Freeman's death in 1969. Harry Freeman took over as President and served in that capacity until his death in 2006.

Today Mayre B. Freeman is the owner of Freeman Funeral Home. Marlon Walley is the President and General Manager of the company and the funeral home in Waynesboro. Mark N. Craddock is the Manager over the funeral homes in Leakesville and Citronelle. Together with the help of dedicated employees, Freeman Funeral Home maintains and expands Dignified Service to the families we serve.
